Classmates Microteaching Feedback

Hannah- I really enjoyed the use of a music video for your lesson, that was something that I will really consider using in my own classroom. I also enjoyed how you had the students get up and interact with the music video, this would really leave an impression on the students and get the content through to them really well. The music video would adhere to almost all different types of learners.
After the worksheet, the use of a game for a review of the content covered was a good idea. Keep things fun in the classroom is a good way to keep students motivated.

Erika- I really enjoyed playing the Kahoot game. Playing a fun, educational, and competitive game is a beneficial instructional strategy to implement in the classroom to keep students motivated. I personally love Kahoot games because the students are having fun while they are learning. The video that you included in the lesson was also a nice touch because it would help reach several different types of learners.

Sarah A.- You lesson with technology was well thought out. Each of your technologies help to teach to different types of learners. The game you included is a fun way for students to learn with the objective to "build a bridge", this would obviously help students be more engaged rather than just pencil and paper worksheets with a lecture to correspond.

TPACK Reflection

1. I think that this technology will support my teaching strategies because by implementing technology into the lesson, the teacher is able to reach more students. The use of technology is interesting to students and is very popular, so it is obvious that some students will learn better with the use of it.

2. Effectively using technology would support the students understanding of the subject by teaching to each students strengths. Every student learns differently, and with technology, you can easily differentiate instruction. Students who are highly visual and linguistic learners would benefit from watching videos on the smart board, whereas students who are highly kinesthetic learners would learn better by playing games that get them up and moving. Technology can easily enhance students understanding of the subject by teaching to what the students are interested in.

3.  My strategies including writing on the smartboard, having google slide shows that include animation, and the use of videoing students while reading. While using these technologies, I would also effectively interact with the students in order to ensure student comprehension. By writing the words out on the smartboard and sounding them out with the students, I would be effectively engaging linguistic and visual learners. By having students do the "drive through" method of sounding out words, I would also be teaching to kinesthetic learners. The only thing I would have changed, would be to incorporate a pre- and post assessment off of the lesson by playing a technology game with the students.

4. Students of different ages and backgrounds would more than likely have different backgrounds and different levels of prior knowledge, in regards to sounding out words in spoken words. In order to see where each of the students are at, I would activate prior knowledge by making the content relatable. I would then conduct a pre- assessment to see where the problems areas are, and where the lesson needs to take off from. As far as motivation, it would be most difficult to encourage students to be motivated if school is not viewed as "important" in the home life. One way that I would help tackle this situations is to try and make learning fun.

5. My main instructional strategies included google slides and writing on the smart board. Writing on the smart board would be my main way of delivering content to the students. This strategy can be completed in several different ways, some ways incorporate a lot of student involvement and some ways do not. In order to ensure that students are motivated and engaged in the instructional process, I would personally like to implement the approach that involves the students more. This would include having students come up and be the student helper while sounding out the sounds in the words, and also standing up to interact with the teacher. The google slide would be my way of practicing the content that was just learned. When I made my google slides, I types up some highly spoken words for grade school students and covered up either the initial, medial, or final sound in the spoken word. I told the students that the word on the slide had to correspond with the picture presented as well. Then the students as a whole, had to sound out the word to try and find out what letter sound needed to be used for the letter that is covered up.

6. Different classroom management strategies that would need to be implemented would definitely include behavioral management.  If there are students present in the class who have difficulties managing their behavior or students who are ADHD, certain precautions would need to be implemented to ensure optimal classroom functionality.  For students who having hearing or vision impairments, these particular students will most likely be seated in the front of the classroom.

7. The use of technology would enhance the instructional process for the students by being able to use demonstrations, models, displaying definitions, and displaying illustrations. In my opinion, it would clearly enhance the instructional process by straying away from the typical instructional process that just includes a lecture and worksheets.

8. One way that students practice segmenting the initial, medial, and final sounds in the spoken words would be by using the google slides with animations. The google slides include words that are frequently spoken in the grade school years, and pictures that correspond with these words. The words have a colored block that covering either the initial, medial, or final sound in the word. Once the students, with the teacher, sound out the word, the students are to say whatever letter sound is missing. Once the say what letter sound is missing, the teacher will then click the mouse to reveal if the students were correct or not. The use of animations would not be done as easily with technology, If I would have thought of it, I would have enjoyed to incorporate an online, interactive game because that is something that students can not experience without technology.

3D Printing

I think 3D printing is an extremely useful tool to have in the classroom. I also believe that 3D printing can be used in almost grades.
In elementary grades, 3D printing can be used to print off geometric shapes during math lessons. After printing their shapes, then students can continue with the math lesson to weigh and measure their shapes that they printed off.
3D printing is a great tool to implement in the classroom because it broadens the students ways of learning and gives the teachers more ways to teach cross curriculum lessons.

Google Classrom Reflection

I think that google classroom would be a beneficial tool to have as an educator because it would make keeping things organized so much more simple. I enjoy the fact that you can distribute grades and assignments in a paperless way. My only concern about going fully google classroom and not doing hardly any paper homework would be that not all students will have access to google classroom at home. In a perfect world, every student would have

3 Articles

TPACK Article-
1. Problem- we have the tendency to only look at technology and not how it is used.
2. Question. How do we properly educate instructors about technology so they can appropriately incorporate it in their classroom?
3. Shulman introduced PCK, which refers to the relationship between pedagogy and the content knowledge of the teacher.
4. Why did Shulman not mention technology as a part of PCK, if he did not find the matter as unimportant?

Net Generation-
1. It is stated in the article that : "It is important for preservice teachers to have the ability to access, evaluate, produce, and communicate using a variety of media forms—also called media literacy—so that they can communicate and connect with the students of today and the future" My question is, is it as important for every teacher in every school to have access to a variety of educational tools? Or just the schools in wealthier areas that have that kind of technology?
2.How do preservice teachers use Web 2.0 technologies for noneducational and educational purposes?
3.What kinds of online content do preservice teachers create for informal and educational purposes?

Teaching and Technology Article:
1. We view technology as something that is constantly changing and altering everybody's lives but we neglect to think about what about technology stays the same and how our relationship with it stay constant. ---Very true, I know that I never thought about that either.
2. Out of 25,642 schools surveyed over 15,000 reported that they used computers. Although this seem like an outrageous number, I think that based on where the survey was taken place and what kind of schools were in the survey, it would greatly affect the numbers.

How Technology Changes Our Lives

Education is something that is undeniably something that has changed the way that the world works. You can find technology is almost everything. Work life, school, home, or even the store: they are all centered around education. For the most part, education has played a huge part at making life better and easier for those who have access to it.
In the classroom, children have easier access to a wide variety of knowledge that is just a click away. Children in the classroom now days can learn what it is like to live in a different country almost personally by skyping or video chatting with a student from that country. It is today's version of having a pen pal. Technology is great in the classroom because, if used wisely, can make differentiating instruction for diverse learners so much easier.
Education especially changes life at home. Some people are more technologically advanced than others; therefore, they will have more technology and more update gadgets as well. The "Next-Gen Baby Monitor" is a gadget that could come extremely useful in homes. According the the article, the fitbit-like baby monitor will keep track of the baby's heart rate, temperature, and more. I would find that extremely helpful. This is just one of the many ways that technology can be used as a benefit.
